Can your family construct a gingerbread house sturdy enough to withstand an earthquake? Prove your skills at this joint fundraising event featuring Doodles Academy and CAN Art & Design. Participants will build and then test their gingerbread houses on the shake table.

Art Showcase:
Following this thrilling challenge, participants will immerse themselves in the enchanting world of student artwork from both Doodles Academy and CAN. They’ll discover the incredible artistic journeys of our students showcased in a heartwarming display that captures the essence of our creative community.
Profits are split evenly between CAN and Doodles Academy to support local arts programming.
Ticket Sponsorship Details:
Each $25 donation provides a ticket for one of CAN’s local students to attend this event

Background Information:
Doodles Academy’s mission is to expand children’s access to high-quality visual arts education. Their mission goes beyond just nurturing the next generation of artists; they believe a high-quality visual arts education enriches lives, fostering critical thinking, emotional well-being, and community engagement. Art isn’t a luxury; it’s a vital part of a well-rounded education. Doodles Academy advocates for equitable access, making sure every community is a place where critical thinkers, empathetic citizens, inspired learners, and, yes, budding artists can flourish. Doodles Academy works with students in Ann Arbor to develop an impactful curriculum that is offered for free, along with instructional support, to teachers and community centers throughout the country.
Community Action Network’s Art & Design is a subsection of Community Action Network (CAN), a local non-profit working with under-resourced communities in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan. While CAN provides families with services like housing and food stabilization along with community building and advocacy, the Art & Design portion of the organization provides students with specialized art lessons year-round as part of their Summer Camp(s) and After School Program. CAN’s goal is to get students in their communities access to high-quality art education and exposure to new mediums, techniques, and opportunities!
This year, Doodle’s and CAN worked together to bring Doodle’s Academy lessons to CAN A&D. Collectively, these two organizations supported well over 580 children in their 2023 classes, dramatically expanding Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti’s access to high-quality visual arts education for elementary-aged students.
