Learn about different hardy geophytes (bulbs) that grow and flower in the Spring, such as tulips, daffodils, crocuses, and hyacinths. Advanced Master Gardener Carol Brodbeck will discuss when and how to plant them this fall and care for them next year.

A geophyte is a plant that typically starts as an underground bulb. Some examples of tender geophytes are caladiums, cannas, dahlias, elephant ears, gladiolas, and tuberous begonias. All of these plants are lovely but cannot survive winter conditions here. They need to be dug up and stored if you want to have them blooming next summer.  Come learn from Advanced Master Gardener Carol Brodbeck when and how to plant them this fall and care for them next year.
