Event Description

Experience nature’s very own light show! This program is perfect for families with kids 9 and up—who can handle a little nighttime walking, participate in games and activities, and safely use nets to observe fireflies up close. Bring your flashlight and sense of wonder as we explore the magic, mystery, and surprises of bioluminescent insects. Enjoy cookies, play an insect-inspired game of flashlight tag, and see if you can spot or catch a few fireflies before releasing them back into the night. A sparkling mid-summer adventure the whole family will love!

What to Expect:
This program is entirely outdoors. Time will be spent on a leisurely walk with frequent stops. Our walk will be about 0.75 miles, will be a round-trip, and will conclude at the Kensington Nature Center. The path is dirt and gravel and mostly flat and level. A group activity or game with instructions will be involved.

Ages: 9 and up. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. $5/person

Pre-registration required by 4p on July 17

Vehicle admission is $10/day or $40/year for residents of Washtenaw, Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, and Livingston Counties.
