2023 National Cinema Day is Sunday, August 27. Movies are showing at select movie theaters for $4.

Michigan & State Theater
In Downtown Ann Arbor, both Michigan & State Theater are participating in National Theater Day. Their family-friendly showings include Hugo which will be preceded by The Gaze which was produced by students at their Young Filmmakers Camp.

Emagine Theater in Saline is also participating. Not only will they have $4 movie tickets, they also have $4 concession deals
Cinemark Theater
Cinemark Theaters are also participating with $4 movie tickets and $1 off concessions. They are located at 4100 Carpenter Rd, Ypsilanti
Movies Playing for National Theater Day
New in theaters is Blue Beetle. There are plenty of kid-friendly movies at the theater this week:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem – PG
- Haunted Mansion – PG-13
- Barbie – PG-13
- Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One – PG-13
- Meg2 – The Trench – PG-13
- The Hill – PG
We saw Oppenheimer (rated R) and we do recommend it for older teens and adults.
There are also some movies making a comeback for National Cinema Day.
- Michigan Theater – Hugo
- Emagine – Spaceballs (PG, but more like a PG-13 by today’s ratings)
- Cinemark has more recent movies like Super Mario Brothers, The Little Mermaid Sing Along, plus older movies like Dirty Dancing, Jurassic Park, American Graffiti
